Anthony has made big changes at Port Macquarie Base Hospital’s CSSD, helping introduce new procedures to ensure the best outcome not only for staff but the best possible care for the instruments according to national standards and manufacturer’s instructions. He’s also put a lot of effort into his research looking at the effectiveness of the new procedure.
Anthony always asks staff along the way for their input which has created a more effective and happy workplace environment. He is continually investigating ways to improve work flow in the department, leading to more efficiency.
Dr Fares Samara
Dr Samara is a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Addictions Medicine who has been working in the Hastings Macleay Network for almost 25 years.
In that time he has acted as a patient advocate dedicated to improving health outcomes for those who are dependent on various substances – which affects their physical and mental health, social lives, and frequently results in interaction with the criminal justice system. Many have experienced stigma in society and in the health care system as a result of their addictions.
Award Recipient: Tracey Patricks
Tracey became the first Coffs Harbour Hospital Dietitian in 1988. As Head of Department, Tracey has overseen the growth in the workforce from two staff members to 20, proving to be a leader for the dietetics profession and a driver for excellence in evidence-based nutrition care.
Tracey is an empathetic, supportive manager who performs her managerial duties while juggling a substantial clinical workload which is extremely rare today. She is a highly respected member of the workforce who exemplifies the CORE values of NSW Health.
